The La'akea Community conducts permaculture certification training and classes, hosts conferences and events relating to permaculture, and provides long term residential study and work exchange positions.

The Solar Living Institute promotes sustainable living through environmental education. The Center offers courses and workshops on biofuels, alternative transportation, permaculture, organic food, renewable energy, alternative livestock production, and home building. It sponsors seven-month, on-site, work-trade Internships.

Six month, residential work trade permaculture program offers hands-on training in gardening, tree work, animal husbandry, and construction/natural building. Program includes onsite courses, permaculture workshops and events.
