NOFA-NY Core Competencies Tracking Tool

The Core Competencies Tracking Tool has been published to help aspiring and new farmers target significant knowledge, experience or confidence gaps and create a strategy to address those gaps. The tool can be adopted according to the needs of the new farmer and their trainer. NOFA-NY sees this tool as a way for farmers to reflect upon their current learn-to-farm activities and to effectively seek out their next learning opportunities and steps to starting or improving their farms. While designed for use between a mentor farmer and new farmer, the tool is free and available for any use.  For instance, a mentor might incorporate the tool's activities into their farm's educational plan; a new farmer may work through the activities and introduce the tool to their employer, mentor or host farmer when appropriate.
